"The Colour of Indonesia The Soul of Java" by Joke Roos #ExperienceFagetti
"It has always been my passion to create function out of beauty," says Joke Roos. In her world she finds contentment in finding solutions that are functional, enchance the quality of life and the culture of people, and are aesthetically attractive. She thinks when those elements are combined, the gratifying feeling goes way beyond. "Having the honour to work on some really challenging projects, I am rest assurethat my heart belongs to interior design," she reveals. As alumni of Parahyangan University in Architecture major, Joke Roos made her ideal dream came true when she co-founded Studio Air Putih with her husband, fellow architect Denny Gondo. She validates her expertise in Maison 12 Suite Apartment project alongside Agam Riadi, Anita Boentarman, Shirley Gouw, and Vivianne faye. For the three-bedroom apartment unit, she confess that her part in designing the kitchen and dining room to be a slight departure from her signature style. "I put two quite unique styles together, ethnic Javanese and Mid Century," she continues. The fusion is served in a modern and unpretentious packaging. Nevertheless, she maintains her design character which pinpoint elegant and timeless classic details.

Sammy Hendramianto S. set his course in interior design when he decided to study the subject at Bandung Institute of Technology. Born in Bogor, Sammy had extensive career as Senior Associate im Grahacipta Hadiprana where he designed a series of luxurious homes, restaurants offices as well as five star hotels that include the renovation projects at Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Horizon Hanoi and Sanur Beach Bali. His works have been exhibited at Elite Grahacipta, Gelar Batik Nusantara, Hadiprana Gallery's Art of Table Setting, Grand Indonesia's Treasure of Indonesia and Ritz Carlton Jakarta Ball Room's Pesta Tenun. He is now focusing in running his design firm, SHS Associates. "Me, Prasetio Budhi, Roland Adam, and Yuni Jie design a two-bedroom apartment unit. Our concept is a journey to Borneo which will be applied across the bedroom, bathroom and wardrobe areas," he explains. A contrast to the previous The Colours of Indonesia, this time Sammy exercises more Modern style in his work. Ethnic details will be visualised only to accessorise. Still, the atmosphere of The Colours of Indonesia theme will be apparent in the design concept.

Prasetio Budhi's portofolio starts with a degree in Interior Design from Academy of Arts University, San Fransisco, USA. Followed by a career in several prestigious design consultants in Indonesia, his experience mould his design character and catapulted his confidence to establish PlusDesign Interior Design Company in 2003. With perseverance and skilfulness as his strong suits when it comes to details, Prasetio Budhi has landed high-class projects over the years. From residential, retail to commercial his list of achievement goes on with accolades such as The Best Work in Interior Design among others. The Colours of Indonesia challenges Prasetio to design a two-bedroom apartment unit with Roland Adam, Sammy Hendramianto, and Yuni Jie. Taking central Indonesia as their home inspiration in Maison 12 Suite Apartment, the four of them employ monochromatic palette of black and white and Modern Eclectic theme. The use of wood accents as supporting materials add to the dynamic and appeal of their design play.

His experience in working for retail and home accessories enticed him to dive deeper into the world of interior design. Enough so he changed his course to become an interior designer and started his own business, Goodlife Interior. As alumni to Sahid University Jakarta and Hendon College London, his many touches on different residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. Roland is a multifaceted talent, he is also known as a wedding conceptor, event organiser, and a consultant in business development, visual merchandising, fashion, and magazine. "This year my project is a two-bedroom apartment that I completed together with several of my ID12 peers. Our unit at Maison 12 Suite Apartment theme is inspired by Borneo," explains the man who has several solo exhibitions of black and white photography under his belt. Roland claims his work for The Colours of Indonesia this year to imply a journey to Borneo. He is trusted to design a slightly "dark" family room. "Exotic details in deep tones, like Midnight in Borneo!" He answers in full confidence.
